A few weeks ago Charlie and I ran away to Miami for a little South Beach R&R.  It was great to get away from the gross Chicago Winter…Spring…Winter?  I’m still not sure what season we are in? (Ugh..they are predicting snow this week…in APRIL!)

I drove down A1A.  (sing it with me ~ All right stop, collaborate and listen…….A1A Beachfront Avenue! Ice Ice Baby!)

I sat outside in 75 degree temps and enjoyed the warm sun on my shoulders.

I ate copious amounts of Cuban Food. YUM!

And we checked out some great place to eat and drink during our little getaway.  If you ever visit Miami my recommendations are:

Michael’s Genuine.  Great spot in the design district.  Treat yourself to the Candie, Cookies and Confections dessert.  You will NOT be disappointed.  Dinner was excellent too.

David’s Cafe for a a Cafe Con Leche. Food is good, but the coffee is excellent.

The Local is a great place to stop for a beer.  Enjoy the house made gras-fed beef jerky with your brew.

Puerto Sagua serves up some inexpensive cuban food.  The empanadas are tasty and the picadillo is flavorful.  Sit at the counter for quick service.

Abraxas Lounge is a great beer bar with a huge bottle selection.  If you don’t like beer, they do serve wine.

11th Street Diner is a traditional dinner to grab breakfast.  Service can be a bit slow, but your on vacation.  Relax and have another cup of coffee.

The Broken Shaker is a great place to drink one, two or more craft cocktails.  Located at the Freehand hotel, grab a table with your friends and go off menu and ask for the cocoa puff old fashion.

El Palacio de los Jugos is a local cuban market.  It is cuban food Heaven!  Enjoy fresh juice (I love the coconut) with your food and take some chicharones home.

And while we enjoyed all that Miami had to offer, the best part of the trip was sitting on the beach relaxing and watching the boats sail on by.
