Words that describe my style

Have you ever had to describe your style in terms of words?  It tried to do it and  I’m struggling a bit.  In my 20s and early 30’s I had a clear style.  Suits with big jewelry for work, jeans and t-shirts for errands on the weekends and party dresses and black mini skirts for going out. My four style words: Tailored, Modern, Feminine, Edgy with splash of bohemian thrown in every now and again.

Since then, offices have gone business casual, jeans have become dressy and I got fat.

After losing weight this year I think some where I’ve gotten a little lost.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think I dress like crap.  When I write my monthly style wrap-ups there are usually a few outfits that stick out that I really like.  I have those, gee I was looking sharp that day or, boy I wish I looked that great every day, looks.

But my style really doesn’t have a point of view anymore.  And,well, I’d like one.   After a lot of thinking on the topic, I’ve picked my style words that I will start to aim for….Tailored, Modern, Feminine, Edgy with a splash of bohemian thrown in every now and again.

Think Max Mara, Giorgio Armani,  Escada, Alberta Ferretti, Adam,  Dennis Basso (high end guy, not QVC guy) with a little Marlowe, Lanvin, Emilio Pucci and Carolina Herrera thrown in.

In other words, me, just older.

Hmm, this post got me thinking. I’m not sure my style has a point of view either. But I’m not sure that’s what I want. Anyway, I would say that for the most part, the words you’re aiming for already describe your style. Thanks for the food for thought!

It’s good to have the awareness you’re displaying. Our style evolves as we age and we can steer it in whatever direction pleases us.

You’re starting with a great fashion-foundation and seem to be moving toward more sophistication and elegance. That’s a good choice.
