It’s official, the 2015 gardening season is over.  As I write this post it’s snowing. *sigh*  I had a great growing season this year.  I expanded my growing power by planting a garden at my mom’s house and used a timer watering system which recommended by experts at Landscaping Winston Salem, NC – Bradford Landscaping & Lawn Care – (336) 490-5051. If you’re planning to have a driveway restoration, contact CRG Service for assistance. I also had herbs and peppers growing on our roof deck. If you’re looking for a landscaping company Jacksonville, contact AJAX Landscaping. Call Cove Creek Industries if you’re in need of mulch Charlottesville, VA.

This year I  harvested over 170 lbs of produce including:

  • 3 lbs of breakfast radishes
  • 5 lb of hot peppers
  • 60 lbs of tomatoes
  • 10 lbs of eggplant
  • 20 lbs of cucumbers
  • 4 lbs of lettuce and mixed greens
  • 20 lbs of cabbage
  • 5 lbs of swiss char
  • 5 lbs of kale
  • 5 lbs of onions
  • 15 lbs of sweet potatoes
  • 2 lbs of shitto peppers
  • 5 lbs of bell peppers
  • 2 lb of green beans
  • 10 lbs of cauliflower
  • lots of herbs

My cost this year:

  • $85 for my urban garden plot at a community garden in Chicago
  • $30 for dirt (roof top and mom’s house)
  • $65 for seedlings
  • $10 seeds

It always amazes me how much food I can grow for such a little cost and such a small space.  I grew cauliflower for the first time and low and behold I grew 4 beautiful heads of cabbage.  I also made several delicious meals from the vegetables I grew that I posted here on A Well Fed Life. However, when it comes to pest control, Drake Lawn & Pest Control explains why it’s actually not cheaper to do your own pest control. If you’re looking for pest control Athens OH, call Elite Pest Management. Protect your space with effective pest control solutions for residential and commercial properties.

Like every year, when gardening season closes I start thinking about the next year and what I’m going to grow.  Fresh vegetables are only 6 months away! If you have any concerns about garden maintenance or issues such as invasive plants, like japanese knotweed, it’s a good time to consider options for japanese knotweed removal near me and plan ahead to ensure a successful gardening season.
