Tying It All Together

I think most women know how to dress, its putting it all together that makes outfits work.  Fit, color, and texture are three key components that make an outfit  fab or a flop.  Great color and fabulous fabrics look like crap if you trying to fit 20 lbs of potatoes in a 5 lb  sack, so to speak.  Heavy wool pants are about as appropriate in the summer as white cotton pants in the winter.  And contrary to what some people may think, electric lime green is not a flattering color on anyone, PERIOD.

When I get dressed every day my first concern is usually fit. I want to make sure that I’m not spilling out of my pants and I can breathe with ease.  Then I move to picking the right textures to work together; weather is a factor in Chicago.  And finally its color.

Have you ever noticed how some people can wear exorcist puke green and fuchsia pink together and make it look  fabulous.  Somehow they tie it all together; a pin, a necklace, flecks of color in a blazer.  They “make it work.”

My outfit today went from drab to fab with a great wooden necklace that I bought in Germany.  I normally would not pair a the heels with pants but with the necklace pulled in the khaki and “made it work.”

OK, I need you to help me shop. You always look fabulous, and I would never think to add the jewelry like you do!

I love the direction your blog has taken, by the way. 🙂

Not all of us! I am clueless!

But I love the way you matched those items, and I never would have thought of that. It is a skill, and an art.

I am also clueless….unless a fleece jacket and jeans paired with clunky born shoes is fashion. hahaha I love the necklace and how you paired it with your outfit.
