Chapter 2

So Many Bands, So Little Time (and pictures)
When attending any multi-stage music festival you have to make decisions on who you want to see.  Its just impossible to see everyone you want to see has hard as you may try.  I knew I wanted to see The Temper Trap the first day of Bonnaroo, and that was all that was on my music agenda, beyond that I was open.
We spent most of the day getting acclimated to venue and heat.  Have I mentioned that it is Hotter than Hell in Tennessee in June?  I also realized that I had not packed properly.  I would NOT be able to re-wear any of my shorts (the smell of BO travels, and while I’m at a music festival where the majority of the attendees don’t shower for 4 days, I was staying in a hotel and showering EVERY DAY).  I also realized that dark navy blue cargo capris would be too hot..but on to the music.

Our lineup the first night… (full lineup can be found HERE) (sorry about some of the video links, they are the best I can find on Youtube)

Local Natives

Miike Snow

NeedtoBreathe
The Tiny Animals (sorry no Bonnaroo Video)

The Temper Trap

Constellations

After catching some of Constellations we decided that we needed to make our way back to the gas station.

errrrrrrrrrrr, back up…..

Long story short, we were staying in the town over from Manchester.  We decided to take a “cab” the first day because we were told the traffic would be horrific (this proved to be true) and we were dropped off at a gas station about 2.5 miles out from the festival.  When we got to the gas station  ( We were able to get a ride on the back of pickup (don’t worry mom, it was safe, we only went about 15 mph on a paved road, I felt like I was up in Wisconsin reliving my youth ridding in the back of Baldies truck with better driving and less rust) to the gas station (Score!). )

We had 5% left on each of our iPhone batteries and NO SIGNAL…NOTHING!!!

I was able to convince someone to let me use their phone and talk the cab company who could not pick us up because they were BOOKED FOR THE NIGHT (thanks for letting us know in advance).

A bit of panic ensued, it would be a long long walk back to our hotel.  But I was able to get the number of another cab company.  PHEW!

We made it back to our Hampton Inn in Tullahoma safe and sound, showered and slept in AC.

A great start to a great trip and a great Bonnaroo!
