Last time I wore this skirt was after I graduated from COLLEGE.  Yes, the year was 1997 and I was interviewing at law firms while in Paralegal School. (sing with me, “memories, misty water memories…”).    I remember the day very vividly that I last wore this skirt, I was told it was too short by the law firm I was interviewing at.  Yes people, a knee length pencil skirt was to short. I was at the MOST conservative law firm ON THE PLANET.  Women were not allowed to wear PANT. This was 1997 not 1897.  Needless to say, I did not get the job (they also changed their dress code policy in 1998).  Oddly, this was not the worst interview I was on that year.  The worst was at a firm that made a woman cry DURING a GROUP INTERVIEW.  I walked out on the interview.  Why would I want to work for a company who makes a potential employee cry.  For garbage money, nonetheless.
I never really wore a lot of skirts until a few years ago. I only wore them to interviews, and even then I had worn pants. However, a few years ago I saw some pictures of me; one in a skirt that  made me look much thinner than the pants I had on the day prior.  Since then, even though I don’t really like my legs (fat ankles and knees coupled with cellulite), I have worn skirts a lot more.
I was very excited to try this skirt on last week and it FIT.
