This past weekend was great and then not so much.

Friday I had a wonderful dinner with Friends.

Then Saturday was busy running errands.  Saturday evening Charlie and I rode our bikes to the Park West to see Scala &Kolancy.  The concert was really good. THOSE LADIES CAN SING!  We grabbed a bite at the Silver Palm before heading home.

Before we left on Saturday there was a lot of police activity around our building.  Then the a fire truck showed up which was also carrying bulk ammo.  I heard a police officer talking about having to do the paper work and  I figured it was some sort of domestic issue. I saw an ambulance pass as we rode our bikes then Channel 7 News.  About an hour later, I got a voice mail from our building saying there was a domestic issue in the building and the issue has been addressed and no tenants were currently at risk.  Also, the service elevator would be out until 12 pm and the doormen did not have any further details.  That night after dinner, we we were riding our bikes home we saw one of the dogs in the building being walked by our maintenance man.  I figured that the issue was related to to the dog’s owners.

Sunday, I got up early to make dessert of Easter dinner.  I messed up the filling twice so I had to run out to the grocery store to grab more milk and butter for the filling.  On the way back home I was talking to another tenant in my building.   I was shocked SHOCKED to find out what I heard next.  My suspicions were correct the issue did have to deal with the dog’s owners.

This is very hard to write about and there is no way to sugar coat what happened.   Both people involved are now dead.  It was a murder suicide (and its all over the news now).  The woman was shot multiple times by her ex-husband (who still lived with her) and then he took his own life.  I really don’t have much more stay about this other than she was a really nice lady.  Always kind and courteous.  I didn’t know her well other than in casual passing in the dog park or in the elevator.  May she rest in peace.

Sunday we then had a lovey Easter dinner at my sisters house.  I was mentally drained Sunday night and headed to bed early.

I’m still really sad about what happened.  I wish I could have some how helped.  But now its too late.

I suppose it just goes to show you that you never know what really goes on behind closed doors.

Domestic violence should not happen to anybody. Ever. Period. But it does – and when it does, there is help.

    OMG how very sad –
I know this may sound like an odd question to ask, but who will keep the dog ?

Oh wow. That’s horrible. I’ve been in a couple of abusive relationships in my past, it’s a nightmare. You really don’t know what some people are capable of until it’s happened.

Lorena- The family of the deceased took the dog and he now has a permanent home. We are all really happy for him.

Tammy I’m sorry to hear that. It is just hard to wrap my head around.
