Margaret Vinci Heldt, my Great Aunt (by marriage), is credited as the inventor of the beehive hairdo. When I was a young one I always remember her being so glamorous at family gatherings, dressed to the 9’s and not a hair out of place.
I had no idea until recently that she is an icon.
