I  have been reading about motivation a lot lately.  What makes people motivated to change their lives?  From diet to exercise to keeping a clean home, what motivates someone to make changes?

According to Dr. David D. Burns in his book Feeling Good he states:

ACTION PROCEEDS MOTIVATION. “We have to do something, anything, before we are truly motivated”

Woah!  What was that?  I need to DO something before I become motivited?

That is right, our own actions motivate ourselves:

  • Eat one healthy meal, you then want another healthy one
  • Run one mile, you then want to run two
  •  Clean out your bedroom closet, you then want to clean out every closet in the house

Taking the first step is always the hardest.  Trust me on this, there is no way that you will ever cross that finish line unless you start motivating yourself.
