Back in mid February,  Charlie and I escaped Chicago and headed to Napa for a long and relaxing weekend of wine drinking and gourmet food consumption. It was quite possibly one of the best weekend getaways I have ever been on.

I need to be honest, it didn’t start off so great. Charlie was already in California for work, so I was responsible for getting Addison to my mom’s house and then myself to the airport.  I had to work during the day so I made sure to pack the night prior.  Long story short, I walked out of the house without my packed suitcase and didn’t realize it until I as about a mile from the airport.

OOOPS.  I guess I was really in need of a weekend vacation.

What could have been a disaster turned into an hour trip to the mall.  $100 later and purchases from the clearance racks at Banana Republic , Gap and Kohl’s (I need comfortable shoes and first went to the ONLY Target in the US of A that didn’t sell shoes, which I didn’t even know existed),  I was back on tack for a great weekend.

The highlight of the day was 2006 and 2009 tasting of Opus One.

The next day we decided to leave the driving to someone else and take a wine tour.

We then had a wonderful dinner later that night at Ad Hoc. It was a perfect 4 course family style  meal.

It was a perfect day of wine and food.

Our last day in Napa we started our day at Nickle Nickle for a private tour and tasting and then had brunch at Brix.

It was a great weekend with great food and great wine.
