Urban Garden Plot

It is officially the end of gardening season.  This past weekend I cleaned up my plot, turned in my  key and canned my last batch of hot sauce from a few habaneros that managed to survive last weeks cold weather.

This year I  harvested over 100 lbs of produce including:

2 lbs of breakfast radishes

5 lb of hot peppers

40 lbs of tomatoes

50 lbs of cucumbers

4 lbs of lettuce and mixed greens

1/2 of green onions

3 lb of kale

lots of herbs

It was  a productive  growing season. I loved all the rain (and not having to water) but didn’t love the cool weather (tomatoes love hot weather).

I really wish I could grow vegetables year round but living in Chicago it is not an option.  Needless to say, I’m already planning my garden for next spring.
