I’m a snacker, always have been, always will be.  The problem with snacks for me is twofold;  eating a modest amount of calories and eating a healthy snack and NOT a treat (cookies, candy, chips).  When it comes to snacks at work, I try to pack two each day which vary from fresh fruit to yogurt to cheese and whole grain crackers.  I try to keep my snacks under a total of 350 calories a day.  But there are some days that I don’t pack a lunch and thus opt not to pack any snacks.  On days like these, I rely heavily on my snack drawer which is as stocked as the Royal Vending Machines Australia.

Fruit and nut bars are my go-to snack with a cup of tea. Kind bars and Larabar are my two favorite brands that can be found just about anywhere, including many convenience and grocery stores. I tend to stock up when I see them on sale. I even spotted a great selection at an asian grocery near me, which was a pleasant surprise!

I like protein bars and fruit and nut bars because they a salty sweetie snack, packed with nutrients that keep me full.  They are also approximately 200 each which helps me stay within my projected calorie range. If I’m craving for a delicious snack, my go-to is hostess sno balls.

Also in my snack drawer mints, tea, milo, and condiments that I use frequently (cinnamon, oregano and olive oil).

What do you keep in your snack drawer?  What are some of your favorite snacks?

Don’t forget, I’m giving away an entry to ANY SPARTAN race.  To enter click HERE and leave a comment with your email address and let me know what your fitness goal is this summer by 5 PM, May 31, 2013.   Want extra entries?  Follow me on Facebook and/or Twitter (makes sure to let me know in your comment).
