One of my strategies for staying on track with healthy eating habits is to fill my snack bag with healthy choices. I like to allow myself to nosh on sweet, savory and crispy options during the day.
Everyday I fill a ziploc bag with a variety of easy to eat healthy food that usually includes fruit, vegetables, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. Sometime I treat myself to a reasonable serving of granola, trail mix or candy. I make sure that each of my choices fits into my daily allotment of calories so that I don’t eat over my limit (or at least I try not too).
By having a variety of snacks to choose from, I don’t feel like I’m not limiting myself to a strict diet. It also helps keep me from hitting up the vending machine at 3 PM for a bag of Peanut M&Ms (best afternoon snack ever).
I also feel like I have a LOT of food to eat during the day when I fill my bag with a lot of vegetables. You know–so I don’t starve to death or anything. Because that would be horrible!
