“Documenting my journey of buying no new clothes for 365 days and wearing what I own while trying to get to my goal weight…all at the same time.”
The past 365 days have been very challenging. I’m not sure which is harder, losing weight or passing on the Nordstrom’s half yearly sale.
In the past year I’ve had some great successes and some failures.
Lets take them by category:
Shopping:
Well I didn’t go a whole year without shopping. I’ll give my self a C-
My first falter was with the Tory Burch Shoes:
Then I had the Groupon from the Gap:
Then it was the discounts at the Talbots Outlet Store that I could not resist (it did win me a $250 Talbots gift certificate!!!)
Then the SIZE MEDIUM dress from CAbi said…”buy me, buy me”:
I also used gift certificates this year to purchase a few other items:
The Rachel Roy dress (Hautelook Credit about to expire):
Audrey Brooke Boots (DSW Store Credit about to expire):
Enzo Angiolini Boots (Bought on Sale with Nordstrom’s Gift Card):
I mostly used gift card, store credits or coupons. I bought nothing that I have not worn. In fact, my cost per wear for each items is already pretty low.
I didn’t buy ANYTHING that I hoped to fit into.
Weightloss:
It went pretty darn well. B+
I’m currently 189.8 as of 7:00 am. I’m 2.6 lbs from my lowest this summer. I weighed 187.2 on July 28th.
This was my first official outfit photo of the new year.
This is me today. (perhaps I’ll wear this outfit tomorrow for a true side by side comparison)
Since I started back trying (making an effort) to lose weight I have lost 37 pound. Had I not gained 7 lbs around Thanksgiving I’d probably be down another 5 pounds. But I’m back on track. A few steps backwards didn’t send me into a downward spiral. I can be proud of that.
Add in running THREE half marathons and a 15K and few other 5K’s and 10K’s. I think it was a successful year.
So what is next…check back tomorrow to see what my next challenge will be!

PLEASE wear the same outfit for a a side by side comparison. I think you look MUCH less “puffy”.
Good job on ALL of your goals and progress!
Do you write down your weight every day?
OMG a year already ?
That blue cabi dress IS JUST like the one Kate wore for her engament to prince William…
You do an amazing job at keeping yourself active, totally admire the discipline you have with running.
Women are born with fashion sense and never outgrow their passion for clothes and accessories.
