From Cake or Death

I love cake.  REALLY REALLY love cake.   So over the past year I have been trying to make them from scratch.  I was in charge of dessert and macaroni salad for my moms annual 4th of July BBQ.  I found this lovely recipe from Cake or Death .  I decided to forgo the marshmallow fondant and make extra frosting and add food coloring to decorate.

I actually was really hesitant to make this cake since I’m not a very good cake baker and it looked complicated.   I actually changed my mind and was going to make cupcakes but Charlie convinced me to go for it. How bad could it turn out?

Oh it gets worse…

Cake1

This cake was so dense it could sink a ship.

And you know how I knew the cake was THAT BAD…we threwout the leftovers out.

Please don’t turn me in to Cake Wrecks.

Happy 4th of July!

PS.. my macaroni salad rocked!

I thought it looked pretty good. Granted, you have to consider the source, but it looked homemade!
I’m sorry it didn’t taste good though.

Well, at least you tried something new. It looks like you weren’t the only one that failed at a patriotic cake – I came across this by another blogger today also: http://greetingsfromseattlewa.blogspot.com/2011/07/weekend-bits.html

Yours looks like a masterpiece in comparison!
