Perfect Roasted Turkey

Thanksgiving dinner always intimated me until I jumped in and cooked my first dinner two years ago.  After much Turkey preparation research,  I decided not to brine and to simply use butter, salt, and pepper to prepare my bird.  It was perfect and truthfully, easy.

Perfect Roasted Turkey

There are no secrets to preparing a perfect turkey other than time, patience and a whole lot of butter.

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Rub the outside of the bird with butter and sprinkle bird with salt.
  3. Roast the bird for 40 minutes at 400 degrees breast side down.
  4. Flip the bird and cook at 325 degrees until it reaches an internal temperature of 155 - 165 (between 3-4 hours).
  5. Baste the bird every 25-30 minutes and turn it in the oven 180 degrees halfway through cooking.

Recipe Notes

When choosing a turkey I prefer an organic free-range never frozen bird.
