No Sugar Added Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars

It’s a treat , it’s a snack, it’s a dessert all rolled into one tasty bar.  These 5 ingredient, all natural, No Sugar Added Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars fit the bill if you need a little pick me up or if your craving something sweet.  They are packed with fiber using rolled oats and protein using natural peanut butter. Dates are the primary sweetener adding both fiber and great flavor.  A dash of cinnamon and a drizzle of chocolate makes these bars treat to eat.  

I served these bars last week for dessert at a small dinner party.   I loved being able to serve everyone dessert that was made with a few simple whole ingredients.  They were a total hit. What I really admire about these bars is they are rich and satisfying but not so heavy that they weigh you down.  In my eyes, they balanced out the decadent pulled pork and truffles mac n’ cheese we ate. And really, it’s all about balance. 

These also make a great pre-workout snack.  The are just the right amount of food to not weigh your workout down pack 175 calories of all natural energy to give you the energy you need to give it your all. 

On the cooking side of the house, these are very simple to make and require zero baking.  No oven will make these bars perfect for summer.

No Sugar Added Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars

Cook Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 oz pitted dates
  • 2 cups oats
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a food process add dates. Process until the dates form a paste. Add oats, peanut butter and cinnamon. Process until all items are combined and become like dough. .
  2. Line a small baking sheet (with a lip) or shallow pan with parchment paper, press dough into pan. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  3. Remove from pan and cut into small squares.
  4. Melt chocolate chips and place into a disposable piping bag. Cut tip of bag and drizzle chocolate over bars. Refrigerate for 1-2 hour to set chocolate.

Recipe Notes

Refrigerate leftover bars in an airtight container. They will keep for up to two weeks.
